SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Objective:
to remove skin excess and localized fat from the thighs, reestablishing the body proportion.

The search for self-esteem depends, in some cases, on the patient’s satisfaction with his body. Even with frequent exercise and healthy eating, reaching the ideal result can be challenging for some people. The tight is a place prone for fat accumulation and the Thigh Lifting is often requested to provide a smoother and firmer skin, a defined contour, and proportional to the rest of the body.

The procedure, which takes about 2 to 4 hours – depending on each individual, aims to remove fat and excess localized fat. Through general or local anesthesia with sedation, incisions are made in the region and the connective tissue matrix is stretched and remodeled, reducing and accommodating the skin. Thigh lifting is generally recommended for patients with significant weight loss, especially after bariatric surgery.

Preoperative: before the procedure, the patient answers a questionnaire about his lifestyle, his health, and expectations. At the consultation, laboratory tests are requested and based upon the results, recommendations are provided for taking or pausing the use of certain medications as well as for adjusting the doses of the routine medications being taken; also, the patient is advised to stop smoking and the consumption of alcoholic beverages days before surgery – it is also important to avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatories, anticoagulants and natural remedies. Absolute fasting of 8 hours is required on the day before the surgery (solid and liquid foods).

Postoperative:after the procedure, the doctor prescribes the needed medications to optimize the cicatrization process as well as to prevent infections. It is important to perform lymphatic drainage and the use of compression braces for up to 30 days or more. Within three to four weeks, the patient must maintain a certain restriction regarding physical activity. Results are achieved after 3 to 6 months.
