SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Objective:
to restore the shape of the breasts, maintaining the balance of the body.

Over the years, it is normal for the body to sag and lack elasticity due to weight loss or gain, or even breastfeeding and gravity. In women, aging and all these factors can contribute to the natural fall of the breasts, which often generates some dissatisfaction on the part of the patient. For this reason, Mastopexy, also known as Breast Lifting or Mastopexy, aims to reverse this sagging of the breasts, restoring harmony and balance to the body.

Unlike Augmentation Mammoplasty, Mastopexy is meant for correcting sagging and providing harmony and symmetry of the breasts. Through general anesthesia, the excess skin is removed, repositioning the areola and breast tissue. The scars are permanent, but become imperceptible over time – they can be just periareolar, periareolar and vertical or in an inverted T. The procedure does not increase or decrease the volume of the breasts, but raises that region and restores the natural shape and appearance of the breasts, allowing the woman to have her self-esteem and self-confidence back.

Preoperative: before the procedure, the patient answers a questionnaire about his lifestyle, his health, and expectations. At the consultation, laboratory tests are requested and based upon the results, recommendations are provided for taking or pausing the use of certain medications as well as for adjusting the doses of the routine medications being taken; also, the patient is advised to stop smoking and the consumption of alcoholic beverages days before surgery – it is also important to avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatories, anticoagulants and natural remedies. Absolute fasting of 8 hours is required on the day before the surgery (solid and liquid foods).
On the day of the surgery, you need to bring a modeling bra compatible with the new volume of the breasts.

Postoperative: after the procedure, the doctor prescribes the needed medications to optimize the cicatrization process as well as to prevent infections. Afterward, it is recommended to use a surgical bra or elastic bandage to reduce swelling and support the breasts. It is important to avoid raising your arms more than 90 degrees, avoid sleeping over your breasts during the recovery process, and also avoid any physical contact without a bra for three to four weeks. The recovery period is 24 to 48 hours, followed by resting for a few days.
